Gala 4 Goals:
The Sanneh Foundation
I was thrilled to support the Sanneh Foundation last Friday night at their Gala 4 Goals. It was an incredible event with hundreds of people there from across the Twin Cities showing our continuing support of one another and our communities’ well-being.

A Week of Violence In Ward 10
This week saw a number of violent crimes in Ward 10 that deserve our attention.
- Clay Anderson was brutally assaulted and killed on the 2500 block of Lyndale Ave just a little after noon on Saturday, Feb 15. Every life that is lost in this city, is a tragedy; when it happens in our ward it is important to me that we take a moment to reflect on this loss and send our prayers to his family and loved ones.
Brutal Assault in Broad Daylight
- An employee was held at gunpoint in Starbucks while at work on 26th and Nicollet.
- In conversation with voters, I spoke with a man who was followed to his car in the Cub Foods parking lot and was beaten and then robbed.
I reached out to our 5th Precinct Inspector to know about the status of these cases and learned the following:
- Arrest has been made in the killing of Mr. Anderson
- Case has been assigned to a detective in the case of the armed robbery at Starbucks
- Case has been reported, but not yet assigned for the beating and robbery at Cub Foods
These incidents underscore why public safety in our neighborhoods is a priority and why I am passionate about partnering with all our public safety stakeholders to create a plan for addressing crime in Ward 10 — from theft to violent crime.
All of this greatly impacts our quality of life and the livability of our neighborhoods. We must address this honestly and urgently to make Ward 10 that thriving place we all remember and deserve it to be again.
Small Business Highlight
World Street Kitchen, 2743 Lyndale Ave
We were so excited to get to work and get eating at World Street Kitchen that we missed taking photos of the team! From fries to rice bowls to burritos, we each tried something different and loved it all. This is a great casual place to stop and have the flavors of the world fill you up.

Constituent Feedback
This was a busy week with two sets of office hours at the Walker Library and an open meet and greet at Fit 1st Running. The top issue for people in the ward is public safety — people brought their concerns to me, ranging from trespassing to garages getting broken into to trespass, along with the unfortunate violent mugging I spoke about earlier.
Other concerns people talked about include the need for more business development and support for local farmers and gardeners.
Finally, and this one concerns me a great deal: I heard from those who have tried to reach out to our current Council Member and heard nothing. Those who have reached out felt dismissed if they did receive a response. Others have never tried to reach out at all because they didn’t want to feel that hurt and anger their neighbors expressed when they were told their concerns did not matter to their city council member. It is important that everyone feel heard and seen in this ward.
Thank you Manny Minter for hosting our most recent meet & greet
at your business on Hennepin, Fit 1st Running!
